Ascension to Pentecost
Thy Kingdom Come
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. What started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.
On this page you will find
In the Tring Team Parish we will begin with an Ascension Day Service on Thursday 21st May
There will be a daily night prayer (compline) using zoom. If you would like to join you will need to email or phone, details below, to get the invite code. It will be great to trial seeing each other as we pray.
Resources and Downloads
The Church of England has a lot of additional resources
Luke tells us the Ascension happened 40 days after Easter. Ascension and Pentecost are closely linked. The risen Lord is no longer present to the Church in the body of his flesh; the Church is now to be the new body of Christ, filled with his life through
the gift of the Spirit.
While he was going and they were gazing up towards heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. They said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up towards heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.’ Acts 1.10,11
Compline comes from monastic communities which had various set prayers through the day. Compline or night prayer is the last of these and is followed by the greater silence. It often helps if Compline is said quietly.
We are trying out praying using Zoom. We have missed seeing each other in our worship.
To get the invite you will need to contact Reverend Sarah Marshall.
There is a great family prayer resource and augmented reality prayer map, available as an app for Android and Apple Devices or a paper download
There is nine day cycle of prayer, daily prayer and a prayer journal available to download. Go to Thy Kingdom Come website for an app for your phone or device and other resources
