Ministry in Schools

We are very fortunate to have lots of schools in our parish, including church schools, and we love seeing the students in school and in church, celebrating festivals with them, and walking alongside in times of difficulty.

Tring School is the largest Church School in the Diocese of St Albans.  The Tring Team Parish pays for a a chaplaincy team to work in the school.  Along with our secondary school Long Marston School and Aldbury School are our village primary schools, and Bishop Wood is our junior school in Tring.

Tring Park School come to the Worship for All Service once a month and also hold concerts in church.

Grove Road School, Dundale School and Goldfield School all visit regularly to learn more about the building and how it is used, and also for Harvest and Christmas.

Tring School

Is an excellent Church of England Secondary School with 1,500 students.

Jane and Michelle, two of our parish Vicars, are chaplains there, and Huw, the Team Rector, is on the governing body.  There are two other governors appointed by the parish.

The chaplains lead Collective Worship, both recorded and in person, and have weekly lunchclubs which are open to anyone who wants to come (eating and playing games are the main activities).  They are also part of the Life Skills team, leading sessions on grief and loss and family breakup, and also help with Extended Learning Days, where there is an emphasis on non traditional learning.  The chaplains provide support to staff and students alike, and take services in school as well as leading school worship in church at Christmas.

Bishop Wood School

Is a two form entry Voluntary Aided Junior School. It is an excellent school and the Christian Ethos of the school informs all that it does.

We take weekly collective worship in the school, the school visits church regularly, we have a monthly prayer service for the staff, and we run a philosophy club.

The school sometimes help lead Worship for All Services in Tring Church.

The parish provides 50% of the governors at the school. The photograph is one of the church governors helping the school thinking how it can become carbon neutral.

Long Marston School

Long Marston school primarily serves the children of Long Marston, Gubblecote, Wilstone and Puttenham.  It has five classes and includes a nursery year.

Our motto is Together we grow and flourish in hope which comes from our vision which is based on Psalm 1.3.   We have a warm, welcoming and caring ethos.  Most of our children go on to Tring School and despite the difference in size of school, they settle well.  Rev Jane comes in weekly for assemblies and the school goes to church monthly for worship, as well as for big celebrations such as Harvest, Christmas and the end of term.  Please direct any enquiries to 01296 668386 or admin@longmarston.herts.sch.uk
