Parish Groups
There are many different groups for all ages and interests.
We hope that you will find a group or groups that suit you.

An important part of our Church life is the opportunity to belong and to feel part of a Church family. A central element of being a family is interdependence: all are needed and valued and each person is important to the whole. This is sometimes hard with in the larger organisation which is our Team Parish, however we have a number of parish groups in which deeper friendships and relationships can be formed as we journey together on the way of faith. You are invited to join in with any of these groups to meet new friends in our church community.

Babies and Toddlers
We have two groups for Babies and Toddlers and their parents/carers.

Baby, toddler, kids and parent drop-in mornings.
The Tring drop-in group is not happening at the moment. We hope to have an occasional drop in session from time to time, and this may well be during the school holiday for older children as well. Please watch this space or email for more information.

Youth Cafe
Youth café is a place for our secondary school age children to meet and to eat toast, drink hot chocolate or coke and to ask the big questions about the world.
We meet in Tring Church after school on Mondays in term time. We start at 3.15, or whenever the students have walked down from school and finish by 5 pm. Students from Aylesbury Grammar and Aylesbury High tend to arrive by 4.15 pm

We go out for occasional trips (to a pizza restaurant or bowling). We have had a sleep over in church. We watch films. We sometimes lead the worship at Tring Church.
Dads n Lads n Daughters
This is an annual camping weekend when the fathers take the children away for a night's camping in Puttenham. We play games, we BBQ and then sit around a camp fire.
We would put more information about this event below, but then there would be a danger of the mums finding out what actually happens!
Without a doubt it is the highlight of the year for many of our church children.

Mothers Union
The Vision of the Mothers’ Union:
Our vision is of a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful, and flourishing relationships.
Our aim and purpose:
To demonstrate the Christian faith in action by the transformation of communities worldwide through the nurture of family in its many forms.
Tring 70 years young and more!
We have had an active Branch of around 30 members in Tring, but we changed to a group of diocesan members. We meet in Tring Church at 2pm on the 1st Wednesday of the month for a more structured meeting, by zoom on the third Wednesday for a chat, and go to the 10am Communion service on the third Thursday of every month in Tring, and chat over a cuppa afterwards. We have planned several social gatherings as well. The get-togethers will be advertised in the pewnotices or you can join the email group here.
The members join up with the other Branches in the Deanery for a Lady Day Service, a Deanery talk, and an Autumn Worship Service; and we participate in events organised by the diocese. All that we do is related to the Vision, Aim and Purpose of the organisation which we support both financially and in the way we live our lives. This all sounds very formal, but we are a welcoming group, so if you are interested do come along when we get together.
First Saturday Lunch Club
A lunch in the parish hall in Tring for the bereaved and anyone who finds themselves living alone
On the first Saturday of each month we serve a home cooked lunch including pudding for a modest charge (currently £5) People start arriving from 12:30 pm for a 1 pm lunch. Drivers are available to collect those who are not able to walk. We are able to accommodate dietary requirements, please ask.
All are welcome. Please call to book a place by the Thursday before.
Craft and a Cuppa

This is a drop-in group held in Tring Church on a Tuesday afternoon from 2pm for around 2 hours. We are a friendly group of mixed ages although most members are retired. You can bring your own craft to do, knit and natter, or sit and sew, or anything else you care to do!
Or just pop in for a cuppa and a chat; our main purpose is social!

Some members knit or crotchet for charity, some help mend kneelers or other church projects, and we help each other if we get stuck on patterns!

We have lots of opportunities to come together for tea and coffee and a chat.

Cecilia Tea Rooms
Three or four times as year the hall in Puttenham is transformed into a tea room. High tea is served with a selection of sandwiches and cakes. It is a wonderful social afternoon in the beautiful setting of Puttenham. Check the calendar for details on the next one.
Food Bank
Tring Church is open every weekday from 10 am - 12 noon to distribute emergency food parcels as part of the DENS Food bank. We welcome volunteers to help with this.

We also collect food donations, it is helpful to DENS to just give items on their high-needs list. There is a link to their website below.

The Foodbank provides emergency food parcels to anyone who is struggling in the community, not just those who are homeless. Visitors can receive up to three parcels, which are sized to provide three days food for either single people or families. Our volunteers are trained individuals who are ready to offer not just food, but words of advice and encouragement.

Members of the community come to the Foodbank for a number of reasons. These include:

Currently homeless or living in temporary in temporary accommodation

House Groups
We have a number of House Groups which meet for further study and for fellowship. Some of them meet all year round and some just meet during Advent and Lent. Please email Huw for more information about joining a House Group.
Book Group
Our monthly book group is taking a break until further notice. It may re-emerge in time.

Prayer Ministry and Meditation
There is a small but active prayer ministry group in the parish, based in Tring Church. There are usually members available to pray with people after the 10am Sunday service.
You can leave requests on the form on this website and ask for a response if you wish, or keep it anonymous.

The meditation group is an interdenominational group run by Malcolm and it usually meets weekly at the Corpus Christi Church. Email him to find out more.

Tring Church Choir
Tring Church Choir is a very active group of people who give their time to provide music and lead the singing to assist the worship in the church. The big services at Christmas and Easter are obviously well known, but the Church Choir supports all the regular services of the church week in, week out, throughout the year. The choir also sing regularly for weddings and other special occasions that arise from time to time. Choir rehearsals take place every Friday evening to rehearse for each Sunday service, and also to practice ahead for the more complicated and challenging items.
As members of an RSCM-affiliated choir there are also opportunities to take part in events and courses run by the RSCM.
We are an adult-only choir at the moment. New members are welcome, some prior choral singing experience (although not necessarily in a church choir) and the ability to read music are essential.
Piano and More
Monthly concerts in Tring Church
The Piano and More concert series was started in 2017 and takes place in the beautiful setting of Tring’s mediaeval Parish Church. The series centres around the 1906 Bechstein grand piano which the church acquired in January 2017, and has involved many local musicians - pianists, singers, instrumentalists and conductors. A regular series of hour long Sunday afternoon concerts has been established, usually on the second Sunday of each month, and additional concerts have also taken place at other times.

Bell Ringing
Bell ringing is an ancient and uniquely English church tradition.
​
Tring Church
Tring Church has a peal of 8 bells with an enthusiastic team of ringers. They have lost several members in recent years and would welcome new blood into the team whether experienced ringers or newbies. Practice night is a Tuesday and we ring for the Sunday 10 am service and for weddings.
Aldbury Church
Aldbury Church has 6 bells and a developing team. There is a learners group on Tuesday mornings and practice night is a Wednesday. We ring for the Sunday 10 am service and weddings.
Puttenham Church
Puttenham Church has 3 bells which are rung for festivals and weddings by ringers from across the team.
TRingers
The TRingers are a handbell ringing group
We are a group of about 7 people and we normally meet to practise on Monday mornings in Tring Church. We go out fairly regularly to entertain various groups as well as ringing at church events.

New members are always welcome. No prior experience necessary. We are always happy for enquirers visit to find out more, or have a go before committing
Tring Choral Society
Whilst not one of our parish groups we have close links to the choral society because their concerts are in Tring Church and they were generous supporters of our new lighting.
There are three regular concerts a year: at Christmas, Easter and one in the Summer, with some additional events for special occasions.
