The Church
and Community
The community of Long Marston numbers
about 450 with a wide range of ages including a large number of
young families. There are 2 pubs in the village, one of which also
acts as the village shop and post office. There is a strong desire
to build and strengthen the community. There is a Church of England
JMI school in the village which also serves other local villages.
The church has good relationships with the school.
All Saints is a small but beautiful Victorian
church. Outside it is unremarkable but inside the architecture leads
to a sense of the sacred. It is an ideal church for small weddings
and baptisms. For more details on these see the Tring Team home
pages.
All Saints has a small but dedicated
congregation which welcomes younger families and is beginning to
grow. A Sunday Club, organised by energetic and committed adults
is generating new life in the community and the church. The Sunday
club meets once a month and attracts up to 15 children. In the coming
year we hope to start a Mother and Toddler service.
The congregation is happy to
experiment and is willing to be encouraged and to change as it grows
in the future.
