Sunday
Club
We hold a Sunday Club
on the 4th Sunday of every month, in the back room of All Saints
Church, for children aged between
3 and 12 years.
Our aim is to provide a relaxed Sunday School session full of creative
fun and friendship as a gentle introduction to Christian worship.
Each session begins with the main congregation where we share the
welcoming prayers and first hymn of the Sunday service before retiring
to our Sunday Club room. We then carry on the session with
informal discussion and stories on our chosen theme and provide
artistic activities which will hopefully reinforce the discussions
we have had and act as a reminder, once the children have taken
it home, of the topics we have explored that month.
Near the end of our activities we re-enter the service to take communion
and blessings with the rest of the congregation
and finish our session with a prayer, song, drink and biscuit.
We try to create a balance between celebrating important events
in the Christian calendar, exploring moral issues, learning about
Jesus and his teachings and exploring stories from the Old Testament
and their relevance in our lives. In twelve hours per year this
is no mean feat!
There are annual Sunday Club picnics or summer outings, smartie
tube collections for charities which the children help to select
and, come December, all the Sunday Club children love to perform
in our yearly Nativity Play and it is always wonderfully received
by the congregation. |
