St Peter & St Paul
We are a thriving church, which offers a
warm welcome to people of all ages. Located in the middle of a town,
the church provides a place of worship and a centre for concerts and
meetings. There is a wide range of services and attendance is typically
around 25 at 8-00 am and 80-150 at the 10-00 am Sunday services.
The programme of services is Holy Communion (BCP) at 8-00 am except
2nd Sunday and Family Communion (CW) at 10-00 am except 2nd Sunday.
On the 2nd Sunday the format is 8-00 am Holy Communion (CW), 10-00 am
All Age Worship and 11-30 am Holy Communion (BCP). We have an enthusiastic
band of bell ringers, who ring to call people to worship. The communion
services are well ordered liturgically and slightly above “middle
of the road” in churchmanship terms. We have a robed choir who
lead worship at the 10-00 am services. We also have a rota of Servers
and a Sacristan/Verger who lays up and prepares the church. The priest
wears a chasuble, alb and stole. Altar frontals appropriate to the festivals
and seasons are also used and there is a reserved Sacrament kept in
an Aumbry. A small team offers prayer ministry after the 10-00 am service.
