The Church and Community
The village of Aldbury, including the community at Tring Station within the district, numbers approximately 1000 and includes a core village community which has lived in Aldbury for generations and an increasing proportion of affluent professional families of all ages, many of whom commute for work in London. The church is close to the centre of village life and is actively involved, with village groups, in the successful annual open gardens scheme and May Day festivities. It is a picture postcard village with a pond and village green, village shop and post office and two pubs and is very popular with tourists, many of whom, together with school groups, visit the church. Details of current village events can be found in the monthly Aldbury Outlook magazine.
St John the Baptist church is a Church of England (Anglican) church of the liberal catholic tradition using both Common Worship and the Book of Common Prayer. The All Age Worship Service is especially well attended not least because of the strength of the Junior Choir. We are part of the Tring Team Parish. For information about weddings and baptisms please see the Team home page. |
