St Cross, Wilstone St Cross is known by the Tring Team as the “small church with a big heart” it always been valued by the Wilstone community for life events, but during the past two years a new energy has developed in the Worshipping life of this delightful church.We have two Sunday services each month1st Sundays 10 a.m. Common Worship communion service with hymns followed by refreshments, 3rd Sundays 6 p.m. spoken Evening Prayer is held in the round and provides worship with an informal reflective atmosphere held in shape by the liturgy of BCP, On the 4th Tuesday of every month a spoken CW communion service is followed by the regular coffee morning Occasional celebrations on Tuesdays include a Pet service, Patronal Festival and Rosemary for Remembrance these attract congregations of 30 – 40 with support from the wider team but also, importantly, from the village. Hospitality lies at the centre of St Cross ministry every Tuesday a community coffee morning is held from 10.30 and attended by up to 40 people. Easter Monday Easter egg hunt brings families to renew their baptism vows then the children competitively search for eggs in the church grounds while the adults enjoy hot cross buns and a warm cuppa. Harvest Festival is high light at the end of Summer with a Worship for All service followed by lunch in the village hall. Christmas Eve Carol Service the church is packed as we celebrate the birth of Christ with lessons and carols followed by wine and mince pies. We alternate with the other village churches in celebrating Mothering Sunday and Remembrance day welcoming local uniformed organisations to mark these important days.
