ALL SAINTS, LONG MARSTON All Saints is a small village
church with an open churchyard, a wonderful interior and an historic
organ. Long Marston itself is a village of about 250 houses with a
pub and a shop cum pub and post office. A lot of the residents commute
but there is still a surprising number who work locally and a large
number of families and retired folk. We are managing to buck the trend
in that we have a growing congregation, albeit from a starting point
of 10, and a thriving Sunday Club as a result. We have just started
two new services: a toddler
service on Monday afternoon every fortnight which is very well supported
and an Iona evening prayer
every Sunday at 630. The main act of worship is at 10 o’clock
on Sunday, the Communion service every fourth Sunday has been receiving
special efforts with sung Eucharist and the Sunday Club in attendance.
This is proving popular with a big increase in attendance. The congregation
has a small number of elderlyregulars that have kept the place alive
and a large growing number of families who attend at least once a
month.
